The main drag in N.Progreso. As you can see, very rider friendly

Where?  Just across the border from the little town of Progreso, Texas.

OK, maybe not 1,000 dentists.  More like 120 dentists in this small little border town, but man it seems like there is a dentist behind every door.

Located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, and roughly 250 miles due south of San Antonio, TX, this really interesting tiny border town of only a few thousand residents sports more dentists and pharmacies (“farmacias”) per capita than almost any other place on the planet.  Throw in an abundance of liquor stores, restaurants, beauty salons, the occasional bar, and shopping galore and you would be hard pressed to find a more Norte Americano friendly place along the border.

Need some auto repairs done and need them done inexpensively?  Then check out the many garages in Nuevo Progreso.

Prices on dental work are pretty reasonable!

Need pet meds?  There are plenty of places selling veterinarian supplies.

If you are curious about Mexico, but have heard all those exaggerated stories and so forth about the local cops being mean and nasty and the violence and Montezuma’s Revenge, etc., etc. and aren’t so sure about going “down there”, then Nuevo Progreso is your answer as a first step to Mexican exploration.  Mr. Peepers would feel comfortable here in about 3 minutes.

Enjoy!

Excellent, bargain-priced dining in Nuevo Progreso
