No, thankfully, we're not talking about Jeff Carter's recently-accomplished 200 consecutive games in the lineup streak.
We're talking about the Flyers terrible losing streak at Detroit.
Jogging everyone's memory, the Flyers haven't won at Joe Louis Arena since Nov. 4, 1988. That painfully includes the Flyers' 1997 Stanley Cup Finals series with the Red Wings, in which they were swept four-games-to-none.
The Flyers are 0-13-2 during that span.
They hope to get back on track and not only beat the streak in Detroit but prevent creating a losing streak. The Flyers were pounded on Sunday, 4-1, at Madison Square Garden. They are now 5-4-1 in their last 10 games.
The Red Wings Examiner, Mike Mouat, previewed today's game on his blog.
FYI: ESPN.com's latest Power Rankings have the Red Wings (46-15-9) ranked second. They are leading the race for the President's Trophy with 101 points.
Since we're talking about Detroit, how much of a fraud is it that Detroit still calls itself "Hockeytown?" OK, so they won the Cup again last season. We get it. That was their third in the last 10 years. They still have 1,000 or so empty seats for ever game. Why is that? Sports Illustrated called Philly "Hockeytown USA" last year.
Ice Cubes: Braydon Coburn did not receive a suspension after getting ejected (with a match penalty) from Sunday's game. The league must review every match penalty for suspension ... However, Randy Jones, who also left the game - this time with a hip/groin injury - will not be available. The Flyers have called up Danny Syvret from the Phantoms to replace him. Syvret has played in 26 career NHL games, none with the Flyers though. He has 17 goals and 31 assists for 48 points in 60-some games for the Phantoms this season.
