Cupcake Activist Photo Inside Diva's

On Saturday, June 28 at 8 p.m. Diva’s Cupcakes and Coffee will host a night of film. The event is entitled “Meet the Filmmaker” and invites four Utah filmmakers to present their work.

“I love film and I love filmmaking,” says Diva’s owner, Gordon. “I wanted to give local filmmakers another venue to show their work.”

Diva’s first “Meet the Filmmaker” debuts two dramatic shorts and two short comedies by local filmmakers. Steve Williams’ “The Voices” and Jason Painter’s “Given” were selected as the dramatic films. “The Date” by Kelsey Landry and “Chuckleboy” by Grant Gifier are the selected comedies.

After the screening, the filmmakers will be available to answer questions about their work. “It will be a great night of food, drink, discussion and film,” says Gordon.

Tickets for the event cost $30 and include appetizers, dinner, dessert, wine and film. Diva’s is located at 1560 East 3300 South in Salt Lake City.

Diva’s will continue to host “Meet the Filmmaker” throughout the end of October and are accepting entries from local, independent filmmakers for a $5 submission fee.
