The Phoenix Coyotes remained busy this week, signing restricted free agent defenseman Shaun Heshka to a one-year deal.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Heshka was acquired by Phoenix in a trade that sent the Vancouver Canucks their seventh round draft pick (187th overall) in last week’s Entry Draft.

The 24-year-old native of Saskatchewan recorded three goals and 23 assists for 26 points and 25 penalty minutes in 77 games for Manitoba of the American Hockey League.

Heshka has played in 211 career AHL games in a span of three seasons, registering a total of 14 goals and 48 assists for 62 points.

He originally signed with Vancouver as a free agent on July 24, 2006.
