That’s right—pigs get a day that’s all their own: March 1st!
Started in 1972 by a Texas art teacher named Ellen Stanley, National Pig Day is a celebration of the pig as an intelligent and domesticated creature (Groink.com).
If you have the time today, why not stop by your local petting zoo or Pig Sanctuary? While they’ve been given the reputation of being slow and dirty, pigs are actually highly intelligent creatures that love people.
If you don’t have time to stop by a petting zoo or your local pig sanctuary, why not curl up with one of the following books?
