Looking for a free event to ease the strain on your pocketbook this weekend? Head off to The Writer's Center in Bethesda, Md. to experience some literary contemporaries.
On June 28, at 2 PM, Harry Turner will read from his memoir, Dear Frank, which chronicles his long journalism career, struggles with alcohol, and finally his satisfying life as a single parent. His memoir has been called brutally honest and occasionally funny.

This is a two-for-one deal in which attendees also will hear Patricia Valdata read from her novel The Other Sister, which delves into how immigration and historical events can challenge three generations of the same Hungarian family. Valdata writes poetry and nonfiction as well.
Space is limited to 80 attendees, but the event is free.
Generally, these events offer light refreshment and sometimes question-and-answer sessions with the authors following the reading.
If you've had a burning question you've always wanted to ask an author, this is the event for you.
Attendees will get a taste of Turner and Valdata's writing style and get to mingle with them as well.
Join the literary scene on June 28, 2009, at 2PM at The Writer's Center at 4508 Walsh Street, Bethesda, Maryland.
