Cooking lessons & fine eating; combined in one great experience
I took an awesome hands-on class with Chef Rob, at Chef Jean Pierre Cooking School.
The class was 4 hours, from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm and learned to make mini French pastries such as Éclairs, Cream Puffs, and Fruit Tarts; and they turned out delicious!! We also ate the pastries at the end of class, or took them home.
Cooking or baking classes are held in Fort Lauderdale at the school, which is owned by Chef Jean Pierre; former Las Olas Boulevard restaurant owner. The hands-on classes, mostly baking, are on Saturdays and other classes are during the week at night, with Chef Jean Pierre. The night classes offer instructions from the chef, recipe, and lots of fun at the end; when you get to eat all of the gourmet food Chef JP just prepared! Check out their calendar of events and book it online; very easy process.
Once you sign up for the class, which can range from $66 - $135 per person, all you have to do is show up. The school supplies all of the ingredients you will need. And, on Saturday classes you get a little break with fresh cheeses, fruits, crackers, and Evian water; but you can bring wine if you wish - maybe too early, but for week night classes it’s a must.
Finally, besides eating the yummy pastries, the second best thing is that the Chef’s assistant is there to clean up your mess and get all of your ingredients ready for the next step. All you have to do is to get cooking! The classes are small and the school was very nice and clean; they even have a store with some of the best kitchen products you can get. This was a great experience; you learn how to prepare great food, from a Food Network champion Chef, and you eat it too! It’s a cooking school restaurant combo for anyone with passion for good food and fun.
