In response to a recent article that I published concerning the breaking down of musical barriers in Snoop Dogg and Slightly Stoopid’s Blazed and Confused tour, Mokugift and the United Nations Environment Program has informed me of Slightly Stoopid’s involvement with Mokugift’s “Artists and Athletes” program. Paralleling the tour’s effort to overcome the divisions between musical genres that Snoop Dogg and Slightly Stoopid commented on, Stoopid invited Mokugift to join the tour to encourage the wide array of music fans to join in their program. In an appeal to hippie fans everywhere, it seems, the program comes to the Blazed and Confused tour to attract the music fans to a tree planting campaign which Mokugift, the United Nations Environment Program, and the Blazed and Confused tour is heading. With a projected seven billion planted trees in mind, the group will be working in close association with the underground-turned-headlining band to publicize and spread the news about this environmental campaign.
Attending six stops on the Blazed and Confused tour (Portland, OR – July, 17; George, WA – July, 18; Mountain View, CA – July 24; San Diego, CA – July 25; Orlando, FL - July 31; and Boston, MA – August 8), Mokugift has additionally proposed to compile video feedback from fans at the concerts to reflect their opinion concerning the environment and what Mokugift is proposing to do. The videos, according to the program director, will be published on Youtube, Vimeo, and other video sharing sites as an additional form of publication as well (videos from the Portland, Mountainview, and San Diego tour are already available). Stoopid, of course, holds a musical production style which is best suited for the sort of publicity which Mokugift is seeking. Using the band’s predominantly tour-based career as a speaker box for the movement’s ideologies (Stoopid, as many know, was originally signed by Bradley Nowell’s Sublime label, Skunk Records, but now records independently with their own Stoopid Records), Mokugift and Stoopid’s Blazed and Confused tour seem to go hand in hand. So for concert goers and groupies following the massively successful tour, keep an eye out for Mougift and the “Artists and Athletes” program, as their close association with the tour should make their presence quite apparent.
