For the past few weeks, Bootless Artworks in Northern Delaware has had a pretty bizarre show to show; part horror movie, part parody, all musical. And all awesome

Evil Dead: the Musical is one of the most interesting stage shows you can hope to see. Taking a classic horror movie series and rewriting, revamping, and putting it to music, you can be assured to have a good time.

The show itself is amazing. Quick to point out plot holes and inconsistencies in the original movies, it is both a remake and a parody of itself. The songs are surprisingly remarkable, catchy, and well-thought out. The dialog is amazing, though vulgar. (So I wouldn't recommend taking people that are far too impressionable).

As for this particular cast, There wasn't't much to complain about. Ash was a good actor and singer, though he didn't quite embody Ash or get as silly with the role as I might have liked. The show calls for slapstick, Three-Stooges esque acting, but the leading man was trying to be Standard Leading Man in a Musical. The voice over wasn't the best. Not only was it not very different from voice to voice, it didn't sync well. Also, some of the dancing was off-cue, though it wasn't bad enough to ruin anything.

That being said, it was an amazing time. Jake and Scott were particularly wonderful in their becoming the character, and Sheryl's body acting was phenomenal. Almost all of the singing was on-key an beautiful, aside from a few weak points in Annie's song and a few mic problems.

In all, the show is an incredibly fun time, and definitely deserves to be sold out.

There is a rumor going around that Raimi and gang are planning to bring it to the big screen: In 3D.  While the play features a splatter zone for ultimate gross out effects, a lot of people are questioning the hokeyness aspect. It's Evil Dead. As a musical. It screams hokeyness from the opening scene.
