Many are now taking up for President Obama being "cautious" in his even handed dealing with Iran. Yet these same are silent on Obama's insistence that an ally of communist strongman Hugo Chavez be returned to power. To speak against Iran's thieving Mullah's, snipers and gangster Basij is to bold, but demanding that Honduras return the ousted Manuel Zelaya to power, is defending democracy.
There are two canards that must be destroyed here. The first is this oft repeated lie that the Iranian rulers will use America's support as a weapon against it's own people. They are already doing it. In fact, it's that very canard they used to take power in the first place in 1979, when that angry Santa Claus from Qom made Islamic Fundamentalism a political force. The "cautious" President Carter helped out too. (Funny that Carter legitimized Chavez as well isn't it? What a legacy.)
The second canard is that the ouster of the Honduran President was illegal. It wasn't.
The former President Zelaya broke the law on holding a referendum, then had ballots printed in Venezuela because he could get around his nations high court that way. Members of Zelaya's own party voted him unfit for office. Now our President, whose staff did not know the law in Honduras, has backed the expansionist desires of Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. The message to Honduras from the White House is clear: "You must do as Chavez wishes." Chavez is threatening military action, as he has a lot to lose if people see him effectively defeated.
To see an American President leave the Iranian protesters twisting in the wind and at the same time back the communist cabal of Chavez, is moment of clarity for many around the world. This damage control theme of praising Obama's caution in Iran, while ignoring his blunder with Honduras cannot last long. The bloom is fast coming off the rose and no amount of sycophantic press cheerleading can clothe this naked emperor fast enough.
