With a vote of 200-215 the Affordalble Health Care for America Act passed at 11:19 PM on a Saturday night. It can't be said that President Obama didn't deliver bi-partisanship to Washington, his opposition was united in stopping Nancy Pelosi's midnight raid of the American people's wallets.
The President issues a statement which was as incredible as the act of sneaking in a a giant wooden horse into the Capitol itself. This fragment of his statement tonight caught my attention:
"The Affordable Health Care for America Act is a piece of legislation that will provide stability and security for Americans who have insurance; quality affordable options for those who don’t; and bring down the cost of health care for families, businesses, and the government while strengthening the financial health of Medicare. And it is legislation that is fully paid for and will reduce our long-term federal deficit."
The Democrats who passed this bill fully intend to cut Medicare, so I fail to see how that will strengthen it. Also the idea that any legislation in President Obama's agenda is paid for is contemptible. Our President should treat us with more respect because even supporters of Pelosicare freely admit this will cost the middle class heavily.
