We hop out of bed in the morning and make the bed (well sometimes) knowing it will be messed up again that night.
We eat over and over and over to nourish our bodies (or to satisfy a sweet tooth) only to become hungry again.
We apply makeup, we take it off. We brush our teeth, they get cruddy again. We wash, condition, and dry our hair, only to have to repeat the routine.
People are creatures of repetitive daily rituals. It's just the way it is - it's called survival.
Yet like what we must maintain physically, there are things we must also maintain mentally. Like a body, if we don't exercise our optimism, attitude, hope, and positive thinking to UP mode, they will turn the opposite way - down - for sure. Like we remind ourselves to make the bed, we have to remind ourselves to act decently to others, practice kindness and patience, hold in sarcasm, and keep peace with strangers and the people we love. Like we eat meal after meal, we also have to feed ourselves the tools it takes to live how it feels best to our consciences and hearts.
It's called survival of the psyche.
