.Farrah Fawcett plays convicted child killer Diane Downs on the TV miniseries Small Sacrifices based on the book of the same name written by Ann Rule.
At approximately 4:08pm on Oct 17, 2009 on Tulsa channel 6.3 KOTVDTV3 (This Network Affiliate)
Fawcett takes her shirt off and while saying
"I'm just me. I'm just a little girl. I can make you feel real good." she bends over to kiss her costar and you can clearly see, framed by her belt loop, her nipple and left breast backlit.
While This TV network usually censors nudity from their shows and seemed to have blurred an earlier scene, they totally missed
Fawcett exposing her nipple just like ABC had when ABC originally broadcast Small Sacrifices starting on November 12, 1989.
While Valerie Perrine going topless in 1973 when PBS showed the play Steambath garnered much fanfare, a sex symbol icon Farrah Fawcett's exposure went largely unnoticed. Even though it happened a full five years before Fawcett appeared nude in the pages of Playboy and 5 years before Meredith Baxter showed her breasts in "My Breast" which was regarded as the first time on non public/news related television.
Even now almost 20 years later it was not caught both by the censors and Mr. Skin (website devoted to celebrity nudity - NSFW).
It is unknown whether future showing will censor the scene in respect of Farrah Fawcett's recent death or keep it in honor of her status as an iconic sex symbol. Small Sacrifices is not scheduled to be shown again on 6.3 in the next two weeks, but if it is shown later it will be listed here.
This TV network is owned by MGM, which presumably owns Small Sacrifices even though it is ABC original programming, and KOTV have not responded to emails.
