Free Night of Theater 2009

One of the things I look forward to every year is the National Free Night of Theater. This program is a great opportunity to see some great performances all around Southern California that you maybe might not ordinarily pay to see. Launched at the beginning of October, there are still select tickets available for performances throughout L.A., Orange, and San Diego counties. Here's a run-down of the highlights at the time of publication.

Los Angeles County

• Carlos de Antonis with Angel Romero and Friends - 10/24/09, 7:30pm. The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.
• Interwoven: The Juxtaposition of Joshua and Johnna - 10/31/09, 8:00pm. The Lex in Hollywood.
• Meet Me in St. Louis. 10/31/09, 8:00pm. Musical Theater West, Long Beach.
• Steel Magnolias. 10/15/09, 7:30pm. La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada.

Orange County

• 11th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational. 10/18/09, 11:00am. Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach.
• The Sheryl Muckenthaler Drayton Memorial Fund Presents Storytelling. 10/14/09, 7:090pm. Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton.
• Verdehr Trio. 10/30/09, 7:30pm. Meng Hall at Cal State University, Fullerton.

• Firebird and Rep. 10/24/09, 2:30pm. San Diego Ballet in San Diego.

These are just a few of the remaining performances available. You need to make advance registrations through the official website of the Free Night of Theater: www.freenightoftheater.net. I got tickets to a performance of the classic Medea on Halloween Night in Santa Ana which I am super excited about. Remember, some of these performances are extremely limited, so make your reservations ASAP.
