Day-ee-tona!

There's some definite momentum in the SEGA camp lately. Whether it's the company's refocused effort on properly reviving old classics, or perfecting modern franchises, there's a strong bit of retro magic flowing through their veins lately.

The dedicated over at SEGA Nerds spotted this piece of artwork, recently attached to a Trade Mark for the name "Sega Racing Classic."

Blue skies used to define SEGA's 16-bit generation games, and it's no mistake that three-quarters of the artwork is dripping with blue sky. And yes, that's the AM2 logo on the top left, hopefully indicating the longstanding team's involvement in what seems to be a revival of their revered arcade racer, Daytona USA.

Obviously several mysteries remain. Why the name change? When is the release date? Will this be a full retail release or a downloadable WiiWare/XBLA/PSN title?

Hopefully those answers will come soon...
