With a model community spirit, Guyanese enterprenuers in South Florida came together for a pleasurable "Brunch and Browse" at De Pirates Bay an upscale restaurant and lounge in Tamarac, FL. The authentic Guyanese buffet was exotic, exquisite and delectable. The roti comes highly recommended. A complimentary mimosa set the mood, as you entered the establishment. "Brunch and Browse" is the ingenious idea of two talented business women, Gina Trotz and Donna Kirton of Naturally Gifted Events, LLC. The two ladies who have a background in fundraising and event planning took the notion to have this event as a Sunday Brunch. The marvel of the idea was to invite local entreprenuers to set up booths and market their products or services so diners can browse between the all you can eat buffet, the cash bar, music, dancing and entertainment. Everything was done by local entreprenuers even the delightful belly dance performance by Alicia Cody, a self made artist.
The Singh family met to celebrate the formation of Mia Singh's new law firm Greenberg and Singh, PA located in Weston, Florida. The collection of businesses and services was so well done that even the vendors browsed and supported one another's fare. Tony and Jenny Budhan, are owners of Stefano's Entrance & Windows Specialists, Inc. Mother and daughter Donna Kirton and Ayana Devonish promoted Elegance and Style Accessories and Tsega Lawrence, Sigi's Jewelry Collection offered hand made jewelry. Colin Baker and Victor Wright were on hand promoting a raffle for Guyana Sports Development Foundation. Bernard and Deborrah Ramsay a husband and wife team offered Tribal Vibes authentic wear from Guyana. Tribal Vibes, LLC can be found on Facebook. Holistic Solutions Inc offered hand made soaps, lotion and a vitamin antioxidant face cream conveniently tagged, "My Baby Phayce".

The camaraderie was contagious and if you attend just one of these quarterly events you will never want to miss one again. This event was best defined as a model of community spirit we could all follow in these troubled times. Imagine the impact of sharing our equity among ourselves when we all need additional income to get through this recession. This event just happened to be sponsored by Guyanese entreprenuers, offering an an excellent opportunity to witness their culture and experience a community that is supportive and positive. Put this into action across the many small communities in the nation and managed effectively, this model could effectively contribute to recovery for small businesses. This concept is not new, the large corporations have been funneling their funds into each others businesses for generations. Brunch and Browse is open to all entreprenuers who can contribute to a balanced line of products. This is an idea that can be reused by any community. As the world economic plane expands and the world shrinks we can all afford to share in these positive exchanges and improve the economy in our local communities just as this was done in South Florida. Come back to hear about future Brunch and Browse's (perhaps Gina and Donna) have coined a new business phrase. Let's keep an eye on Naturally Gifted Events, LLC and see how this pans out.
