If you’re a parent, you’re familiar with Sprout. It’s a channel on TV created just for children and learning, part of the PBS network.
They have expanded their offerings to an iPhone app that holds videos to go for those long days in the car or other situations that childhood chaos can ensue. And instead of letting them watch something that will do nothing but melt away their brain cells, it’s something educational for them. Dead time is learning time when you have the Sprout Player app on your iPhone when you’re out and about with the youngsters.
On the Sprout Player app, you can select from numerous Sprout shows, each of which have numerous videos to watch. Shoes include the Sprout’s Sharing Show, Musical Mornings, Sunny Side Up Show, The Many Adventures of Mr. Mailman, and many others. You can load the videos and view them just as you would a YouTube video. Most videos are around two minutes or so, so there’s definitely not hours of entertainment but plenty to keep your kids occupied for at least a little while. It would be nice if there were full-sized shows, but I know that would require much more space for the app to function.
All-in-all, it is a cute app that your preschoolers will enjoy and come to look forward to during long waits at the doctor’s office. And there’s no better time than learning time!
