Let's be real here. We all enjoy an original date.  The "that was the coolest date of my life" date, but sometimes we depend on a little bit of normalcy being added to our complex lives. Something not so extravagant, not so time consuming and well thought out. In LA, it's easy to find "over-the-top" but let's not forget the staples in our dating world... the one date that holds strong for almost every couple... that's right, I'm talking about the fail-safe "dinner and a movie" date.

The key to this typical date becoming a success, is finding the perfect place for dinner and a great movie to keep you two talking for hours on afterward. Might I recommend an Italian favorite, "Bella?" Located at 1708 Las Palmas Ave and Hollywood Blvd, this restaurant is one of the six that remain in the Dolce Restaurant and Entertainment Group. It competes well with it's nearby sisters, The Geisha House and Les Deux. It's reasonably priced and for the most part, you don't have to worry about your date hating the cuisine. How many people do you know who actually hate Italian food? For more information of Bella Cucina Italiana, please visit: http://www.dolcegroup.com/bella/.

Besides the excellent food, (and might I suggest the eggplant appetizer- it's to die for) the location of Bella is quite convenient for the LA couple who is hitting up a movie afterward. It's just a short 5 block walk to Grauman's Chinese/ Mann's 6 Theatre. Or, in the opposite direction, the Arclight Cinema is fairly close on Sunset Blvd, but you'd probably want to drive instead. My movie pick of the week that will definitely keep the conversation rolling is, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, although if one or neither of you have read the book, your post-movie conversation may be filled with many questions followed by rude remarks about the girl who recommended the movie in the first place (that's me). If that is the case, stick to the basic box-office sellers  that don't require a 600 page reading beforehand, like Transformers. If you need more ideas on what movie to see and which theatre to see it in, please visit: http://www.moviefone.com.

Whatever movie you pick, enjoy it, but more importantly, enjoy it with the person sitting next to you.
