Remember DerMarr Johnson? The 2009-2010 University of Cincinnati basketball team has a new addition that just might remind people of Johnson. At 6’9”, Johnson was a big shooting guard that had a well-balanced game. DerMarr could stroke the outside jumper just as easy as he could take the ball strong to the glass. Nine years later the Bearcats find themselves with a player who certainly has the capability to match Johnson’s achievements, if not surpass them.
Mick Cronin’s backcourt got a huge boost when 6’5”, 210 lb. shooting guard Sean Kilpatrick signed a national letter of intent to play for the Cincinnati Bearcats. As a senior at White Plains Senior High School in New York, Kilpatrick averaged 25.6 points per game. Due to academic issues, Kilpatrick made the decision to enroll at Notre Dame Prep School to focus on improving his grades. Kilpatrick chose U.C. over other schools such as Auburn, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Pittsburgh and Kansas State just to name a few.
Kilpatrick seems to have the whole package. Not only is he big for a shooting guard, but he can stroke the three or slash to the hoop. Sean has the ability to score in bunches. In January 2008 he set the Big Apple Basketball Invitational scoring record by putting up 44 points; a record which still stands today.
Below is a video showing the Top 10 players to ever compete in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational. Sean Kilpatrick, ranked 3rd, holds company with some very impressive and very notable hoopsters.
Sean Kilpatrick – welcome to the University of Cincinnati.
