My bad.

If the Rangers win tonight in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball to finish off a sweep of last year’s American League pennant-winning Tampa Bay Rays, then forget I wrote this article. In fact, I may try to delete it, hoping that no one will see it, and those of you that do see it, well, I’ll just have to go all Men in Black light-flashy-thingy on you.

Lately when I have been in attendance at Rangers games, Texas can’t seem to stop -- how should I put this? -- allowing the other team’s players to touch home plate. I have seen the opponent score at our expense so many times in my last three games that it makes my head hurt. 35. That is the number of total runs the Rangers have allowed. How’s that for an impressive resume? The two games I have witnessed this season were the 9-0 shellacking at the hands of the Blue Jays, in a game that seemed to last about thirty minutes, and a recent 7-3 loss to the not-so-good Padres. But wait, that is only 16 runs. Some of you may remember a certain game last season. My picture for this site was taken at Fenway Park last August. It was my first trip to the historical baseball landmark, and my first road Rangers game. It was also the night of that incredible 19-17 game which saw batters crush baseballs and touch home plate at a dizzying pace. Every pitcher had their ERA balloon, and the Green Monster probably suffered numerous dents with all the balls that were smashing into it.

I wish I could remember the game prior to that Red Sox game. The fact that I can’t probably means the Rangers won and my pattern of jinxing the defense and pitching can only be extended for these three games. It may be a small sample, but 35 runs allowed in three games is no joke. Though the 19-17 game obviously got a lot closer later, the Rangers were outscored 10-2 in the first two innings. In the other two games, it was 4-0 and 3-0. That’s 17-2 before the 3rd inning even began. There has been no messing around. But I guess that is better than watching a close game for 7-8 innings, only to see the opponent score several runs at the end to win by a lot. I guess it isn’t as painful to just get beat to the ground from the very beginning. Or maybe that is just me.

Tonight will mark my third Rangers game of the season. So I am going to pull a T.O. and apologize to Rangers fans in advance for the amount of runs the team will allow. If Texas enters the 3rd inning already trailing by a few runs, blame nobody or nothing else but me. I apologize for knowing the full impact I have on the team, yet deciding to continue attending games. If I were smart, I would stay far away from the ballpark tonight and far a long time after tonight. But I’m not smart. For that, I am sorry.
