Now only a month out from National Lacrosse League teams beginning training camps for the 2010 season, player transactions are starting to pick up right and left. In the week's biggest player move news, the Rochester Knighthawks acquired defenseman Ian Rubel and recently drafted defenseman Cody Johnson and goaltender Aaron Bold from the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for recently drafted Ryan Hoff and the Knighthawks second pick in the 2011 NLL Draft.

Rubel is a ten year league veteran, with three championships earned while with the Toronto Rock under his belt. He has 148 career loose balls on his career. Bold is a five year veteran of the San Jose (now Washington) Stealth, with 37 games of experience and a 3-4 career record. The Swarm had acquired Bold during early September's 2009 draft.

On NLL.com, Knighthawks General Manager Curt Styres mentioned that the addition of an experienced goalie like Bold was a priority to the team. "We identified a hole that needed to be filled when (Pat) O'Toole was hurt last year and missed games...We think (Bold) is ready to go in and get us lots of wins."

Hoff was selected by the Knighthawks in the third round of September's draft. He was a third team All-American with Notre Dame, with 134 collegiate career goals.

In other player moves this week, the Calgary Roughnecks signed recently acquired forward Craig Conn, returning defenseman Greg Hinman, and 2008 draft pick defenseman Curtis Manning to one-year deals. Conn, previously with the Toronto Rock, had 14 goals and 18 assists last season. Hinman, a two year member of the Roughnecks, appeared in seven games for the team last season. Manning deferred his 2008 draft selection to keep playing at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.
