Like good neighbors, members of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Boston Blazers are making the rounds at local Boston events to promote their team and to give back to the local community.
The Blazers joined fellow Boston pro athletes at The Truth Strikes Again celebrity bowling tournament on November 17th at Kings Lounge in the Back Bay. The event benefited Boston Celtic Paul Pierce's Truth Fund, a fund to encourage educational activities and stable environments for underprivileged youth. The fund has made significant contributions around the Boston area.
Blazers players Sean Morris, Dan Dawson and Mitch Belisle participated in the event, along with members of the Celtics, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. The event raised funds for the newest aspect of Pierce's fund, "The Truth on Health", which will encourage children to lead healthy lifestyles that include physical activity (hopefully including lacrosse!)
Dawson and Belisle joined Boston Mayor Tom Menino to light holiday lights at the North End's Christopher Columbus Park on November 24th. The "Blazers House," where several Blazers players reside, and the TD Banknorth Garden, the Blazers' home field, are in the neighborhood.
The Boston area sports scene is full of athletes contributing back to the community, and the Blazers are showing that they are no different.
