ACDC brought their crunching rock show to Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium Tuesday night, July 28th, launching the North American leg of their Black Ice tour. The huge black rectangular stage sported an array of lights and gigantic TV screens.
In a gesture of genuine rock and roll solidarity, ACDC had Canadian rockers Anvil open the show. Anvil were recently made famous by the Spinal Tap-like real documentary of the perpetually struggling heavy metal band, The Story of Anvil
ACDC opened with “Rock and Roll Train,” the lead track off their new album, Black Ice. The band proceeded to roar their way through a set of their hits, to the delight of the fans, who included actors Chris Rock and David Spade. Guitarist Angus Young, in his trademark schoolboy outfit, ran across the stage, played lying down, bombs went off, singer Brian Johnson yelled, “You guys make us proud up here!” In others words, it was a classic ACDC show – tight, thunderous honest hard rock designed to deliver the goods to their fans.
