The Washington Post ran this story on Sunday about how food safety has plummeted in recent years:

Food Safety Efforts Have Stalled in Recent Years, CDC Says

Sadly, even with the Bush administration out of office, the media still seems to shy away from being critical of them. The Bush administration was in charge of the regulatory agencies that were responsible for food safety. The failures in food safety were the result of willful incompetence by an administration that was pro-business to a fault – to a point when it became dangerous to American people. These truths should have pointed out in the Post article.

Though there may be career officials that are sympathetic to the Bush administration still in their positions in these agencies, but one hopes we would see improvement with the Obama administration simply through the difference of priorities shifting from a pro-business slant to one that focuses on consumer safety.
