October 25th - Troy Matteson birdied the second playoff hole Sunday to win the Frys.com Open in a playoff over Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark.
After bogeys at the final two holes in regulation, Matteson pulled it together and stuck his approach shot to three feet at the par-4 17th and drained the putt for the victory. With the win, Matteson earned his second PGA title and $900k.
Fowler, playing in only his second tournament as a professional, won $440,000 which gives him an excellent chance of earning enough money next week to secure his card for the tour in 2010. He still will have the chance to go to Q-school if needed, but he wants to avoid that if at all possible.
Lovemark earned $400,000 as well but has decided to go to Q-school next week in North Carolina.
The Frys.com Open saw many amazing rounds and shots throughout the week. During his Sunday round of 64, Fowler made a hole in one at the par-3 5th hole, the fourth hole in one of the week.
Troy Matteson shot back to back rounds of 61 on Friday and Saturday to position himself nicely for the win.
Nicholas Thompson, who finished in a tie for 8th place, had a double eagle and a hole in one Saturday to go five under par in a span of three holes.
