Oh? You say the subway no longer looks like this? Shocked, I am shocked!
It’s 22 degrees out, the bills are coming in, people are being cut from the unemployment rolls: what to do, what to do? How about going to the first in a series of hearings being held by the MTA on its proposed fare hikes and service cuts. Unbelievably, the MTA is proposing raising the base far to $3.

But, I have tremendous faith in my fellow New Yorkers, especially in their ability to make grown men cry! Therefore, if nothing else, tonight’s hearing could be great performance art. I’ll be in the front, snacking on popcorn.

For more info: Tonight's MTA public hearing is at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel on 6th Avenue and 53rd Street.
