The Dallas Mavericks put their six game losing streak on the rack as they rally past the Knicks in the Garden 124-114 in overtime Sunday evening.  The Knicks led for most of the game, but ran out of steam as the Mavericks went on a 19-2 in the last minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime to move to 3-7 on the season.  The Mavericks were able to avoid one of the longest losing streaks in franchise history, playing the spoiler on the road.

Leading the Mavericks were its all-star forwards Dirk Nowitzki with 39 points and 15 rebounds, and Josh Howard with 31 points and 14 rebounds.  On the Knicks side Zach Randolph posted his usual double-double with 27 points and 18 rebounds, and Chris Duhon had his best game as a Knick with 16 points and 12 assists.  The Knicks lost their first game when they post over 100 points and finished the week 2-2.

The Knicks slowly let the game slip away in the fourth as the shots did not fall and Nowitzki took over the game after being absent for most of the second half.

It was a rough game to let slip away as the Knicks will travel for the next two games to Boston and Milwaukee, then play host to Washington at home  Playing the defending champions after a heartbreak loss like this can affect team chemistry, but the Knicks will have to bounce back quickly if they want to give the Celtics a strong game.  The Celtics have one of the most dominating defenses in the league and will challenge the explosive run-n-gun offense the Knicks have been using under Mike D'Antoni.

The Fishman prediction: Knicks go 2-1 this week

This can also be a week the Knicks say goodbye to Stephon Marbury, as president Donnie Walsh is expected to allow guard Stephon Marbury to speak with teams about playing else where and moving on in his career.  It's going to be an interesting week for New York, and will be very important for the team to move on from Sunday's loss at home.
