Google launched a new service today called Google Dashboard. Every Google subscriber has one. The Dashboard is a repository of everything Google has saved. Most of which is also available elsewhere. Now, it's in one place and more importantly, we choose what they can keep.

What is saved

Google has made their privacy policies easily accessible, right at the top of the Dashboard. Please read them, it is important to undestand their policies, as Google has collected a mountain of data from each of us.

The information stored by Google is arranged by the services that are used. For instance, if you have a Gmail account, you can manage contacts from your Dashboard or view any new or saved e-mail messages.

Where is it

The simplest way to get into Google Dashboard is to:

  1. Sign into your account
  2. Click on the settings link at Google.com
  3. Finally, select “Google Account Settings”

Then your Web browser will go to a Web page similar to the slide below:

Final thoughts

There are a few services not available on the dashboard. They are Google Analytics, Local Business Center, Google Webmaster Tools, and Google Subscribed Links.

It feels right that Google is allowing subscribers to control what they want saved. I was surprised by some of the information that is saved, such as every e-mail contact. Not just the ones I added purposely.
