Several years ago I interviewed television reporter Diane Dimond, who was then a correspondent for EXTRA - the syndicated television news magazine.
At the time, her fascination with Michael Jackson was apparent.
Today, her years of coverage have come full circle as the self-promoted "Michael Jackson biographer" has some interesting insights into the life and death of the King of Pop in the new issues of US Weekly.
Days before his June 25th death, Dimond - citing an "unnamed family source" - reveals that Michael Jackson had "a cancerous lesion removed from his nose."
"Last week, I had two real sources call me and say he's getting surgery right now for removal of skin cancer off his nose," Dimond told US Weekly. "This is not a man who suffers pain well. He likes painkillers. So he got some from here, he got some from there -- who knows how much."
Although autopsy reports may not become public for weeks, the speculation that Jackson did indeed take "too much too soon" remains the leading suspicion of the cause of death for arguably the greatest recording star of his generation.
Michael Jackson died one week ago at the age of fifty.
A massive public memorial service has been scheduled for the Staples Center on July 7th.
11,000 tickets will be available for seats at the Staples Center and an additional 6,500 tickets will be available for seats at Nokia Theater across the street from Staples Center, for a simulcast of the event.
