As a nation rallies around the families and victims of last week's Ft. Hood tragedy, celebrities are also joining in to show their support.

One star in particular even recalls meeting a hero that emerged from what has become one of the nation's darkest tragedies.

Last summer recording star Dierks Bentley played an Independence Day concert at Ft. Hood. While there, he met and was photographed with Sgt. Kimberly Munley.

Munley is now hailed as a hero after shooting Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan - the alleged shooter responsible for Thursday's murderous shooting spree at Ft. Hood Army base - even while being shot herself.

Hasan is believed to have killed thirteen people during the shooting. This weekend, the number of wounded increased to thirty-eight.

Bentley reached out to Munley on Friday morning to thank her for the courage and bravery she displayed during the horrific ordeal.

"I said I was honored to have my picture with her and that my band and I were all thinking of her and praying for the folks on the base. I told her, 'We are all just really thankful to you,' " says Bentley.

"She was quiet and she's just humble person and said she was just doing what she does. She would say she's just out there doing her job, but it's a pretty amazing job she did. It's pretty impressive.”
