On Friday's 20/20, Rihanna opened up to ABC News and Diane Sawyer about what happened between her and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown on the night of February 7th, 2009.
Recounting in gruesome detail how Chris Brown assaulted her, Rihanna revealed things never before publicly exposed.
Among the most horrifying aspects of the beating, says Rihanna, was the "blankness" that filled Chris Brown's face as he tossed her around their hotel room.
"When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop?" Rihanna admitted to having asked herself during the assault. "He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank. He was clearly blacked-out. There was no person when I looked at him."
What triggered the fight?
Rihanna says Chris Brown received a text message from a different girl following the Grammys.
"I caught him in a lie, and he wouldn't tell the truth. And I wouldn't drop it," she says.
"I couldn't take that he kept lying to me, and he couldn't take that I wouldn't drop it … It escalated into him being violent towards me. And it was ugly."
"I was battered, I was bleeding, I was swollen in my face."
