Following the mid-April debut gig by Dead Weather in New York City, it’s back to The Kills business for singer Alison Moshart. Her high-profile liaison with White Stripes’ Jack White in Dead Weather no doubt gave her day-band The Kills' renewed tour activity for its 2008-released second album, “Midnight Boom,” added spotlight too. However, the band has upped the touring record release ante with a new EP, “Black Balloon,” containing three newly recorded songs, and will reissue its 2003 debut “ Keep On Your Mean Side” on May 5.

Domino Records is re-releasing the album  with five bonus tracks, including covers of Dock Boggs’ “Sugar Baby”, Jonathan Fire*eater’s “The Search For Cherry Red,” and Captain Beefheart’s “Dropout Boogie.” All five songs date back to the band’s  “ Keep On Your Side” sessions. Incidentally, “Keep On Your Mean Side” was recorded at White Stripes favorite London recording studio, Toe Rag. Destiny?
