James Iha

Fountains of Wayne might well be touring the US this winter, airing new songs the band is hoping to release this summer. But that activity will be interrupted when co-singer-songwriter Adam Schlesinger airs his other band – no, not his long time pop project Ivy— at SXSW next month. The band is called Tinted Windows and alongside Schlesinger on bass, it features James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) on guitar, Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) on drums, and Taylor Hanson (Hanson) on vocals. Though Iha and Schlesinger co-own Scratchie Records and New York’s Stratosphere Sound Studios, this is still quite a left-field collaboration.

Significantly, this is Iha's first major band collaboration since departing Smashing Pumpkins and embarking on a solo career in the late '90s. According to some reports, Tinted Windows will release an album in April.
