June 24, 2009 Los Angeles  twenty four members of the feared MS 13 from LA were arrested on at least seven counts of murder.  Several other charges including racketeering were included in the sixteen counts on the indictments.  If convicted each member will be spending 25 to 30 years in jail before the possibility of parole.

MS 13 has in recent years spread like a wild fire across America and Central America. Included in the arrest was Alex Sanchez the executive director of the Anti Gang Homies Unidos  for allegedly conspiring to kill someone in 2006.

Others in gang were indicted for the conspiracy to kill Frank Flores, a well known member of LA PD's anti gang task force in 2006 .The Mara Salvatrucha gang known across America and Central America as MS 13 is known for their brutality and murders.  Look around at the graffiti in your city I’ll just bet if you look very hard you will find MS 13 sprayed somewhere or written on something in your town.

They originally sprang up in prison to protect themselves from other gangs but then grew quickly on the streets of  Los Angeles before branching out to every state and Canada.  The first members were all from El Salvador but now they recruit members from Hispanics populations in every American City.

Federal agencies such as the FBI and ATF consider MS-13, the most serious gang threat our country faces. A recent shoot out in Houston with law enforcement and MS 13 members demonstrated that MS 13 is evolving into a Para-Military organization.  It’s believed the gang numbers reach approximately 10, 000 members nationwide. They have been involved in many brutal murders and have used Machetes in the attacks to cut off people's heads or limbs.

MS 13 is alleged to be responsible for an attack on a bus in Honduras in December of 2004. The attack resulted in (28) people being massacred of which six were children.  Many law enforcement agencies are bracing for a new round of gang violence as MS 13 moves into take over other gangs turf.  If you want to be upwardly mobile in this gang you have to be willing to kill and in the most horrific manner.
