Weapon killer used on troops at Fort Hood identified.
Law enforcement officers seized computers and e-mails belonging to Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan .These are critical in trying to determine what motivated his attack on fellow soldiers and civilians.
They have interviewed approximately 170 witnesses to the attack. They are gathering an mountain of evidence to go through in an effort to get answers.
Since this suspect is going to live they have to make sure they have a strong case for his prosecution and ultimate execution.
All of these witnesses along with those wounded may be psychologically impaired for the rest of their lives,” said W. Roy Smythe, chief of surgery for Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Seventeen shooting victims remain hospitalized including heroic Police Sergeant Kimberly Munley. She reportedly suffered wounds to her wrist, leg and knee.
She deserves to be given the "Congressional Medal of Honor." While it would likely require an act of Congress with a recommendation for the President, there is a strong argument for giving her one.
She engaged in combat on a military base and her conduct and actions were above and beyond the call of duty.
The killer Hasan, was listed as in stable condition and has been removed from a ventilator. He is talking but what is being said is not going to be released at this juncture.
The initial investigation shows that Hasan, allegedly used only one gun during the attack an FN 57 semi-automatic pistol made by FN HERSTAL of Belgium.
This is one of if not the most devastating handguns on the market today. It comes standard with three twenty 20 round magazines. There is a ten shot extension that easily slides onto the magazine making 30 non-stop rounds available to the shooter.
It is so lethal because the round travels at approximately 2000 feet a second. As compared to most handguns that send their rounds down range at 1200 feet a second or less. This round is very comparable to being stuck with a round from an M-16 rifle.
Several SWAT teams have gone to carrying this weapon as the sidearm for their entry team members as it will penetrate soft body armor. Many crooks are now wearing body armor while committing crimes.
Army officials said Hasan also was carrying another handgun. But the law enforcement official said there's nothing so far to indicate the second weapon was fired.
Just to let you know I have recently had a stroke that has resulted in some seizures. At times I make grammar errors as I don't always have someone available to proof read these articles, before I have to submit them. I try to do my best to keep the information fresh. The old brain doesn't connect the dots as it once might have. The stroke dusted some of the dots of my dice I'm afraid. Thank you for being understanding. Please feel free to point these errors out to me as I review all comments and try to use the information to give you a better article.
