A tribute to American Veteran’s and the flag they have defended
For two hundred and thirty four years our nation has been defended by brave men and women.
From Lexington Green to Bagdad, Kandahar, plus a thousand great battles in between, the American’s that have fought, carried battle scars, or died defending liberty deserve our respect, admiration, and our unwavering support.
Veteran’s Day is a day set aside to reflect and give thanks to those that have sacrificed so much over the years that we might enjoy the freedoms we have here in America.
Every veteran that has ever fought in combat after crossing the frozen Delaware, fought against a cousin or brother at Gettysburg, tried to close their eyes and hold their breath to keep from inhaling mustard gas in the trenches of France, beat back the German tanks at Bastogne, fought at the Chosin Reservoir, lived under the raining rocket fire at Khe Sanh, fought through Fallujah, or finally the current fighting in Afghanistan loved their country and their flag.
This below tribute to the American Flag is also a tribute to the millions that have served this country under our flag.

Stars, Stripes, & Veteran’s Day
Fifty white stars on a field of blue, six white stripes and seven red too!
How does one describe such a wondrous sight, as an American Flag flying at night?
When it’s bathed in light and blowing in the breeze standing tall above the trees.
I search for the words to describe what our Nation’s symbol means to me.
I fear my vocabulary fails me.
For how can I articulate how I feel, when the color guard marches onto the field?
I put it very simply there is a lump that I feel, high in my throat each time the flag is unveiled.
For over two hundred years Old Glory’s stood tall, in wars for freedom big and small.
You see millions of our Nation’s Best, are deserving of the honor to have quietly been laid to rest; with the Red, White, and Blue across their chest.
So maybe now you can see what the Grand Old Flag and heroes mean to women and men like me.
Some may use their right of self expression to desecrate the flag, to garner attention.
The rights that women and men have died to protect deserve that we solemnly not forget.
That from Lexington Green to the Persian Gulf and a thousand points in between; these rights were defended for you and for me.
In short, what the Stars and Stripes and Veteran’s Day mean to me, is that I live in a country where I am free.
I choose to fly my American Flag high; I’ll honor Old Glory and Veteran’s Day until the day that I die!

Just to let you know
I have recently had a stroke that has resulted in some seizures perhaps due to Agent Orange and being blown up in Vietnam.
At times I make grammar errors as I don't always have someone available to proof read these articles, before I have to submit them. I try to do my best to keep the information fresh.
The old brain doesn't connect the dots as it once might have. The stroke dusted some of the dots of my dice I'm afraid. Thank you for being understanding.
But please feel free to point these errors out to me as I review all comments and try to use the information to give you a better article.
