Drive is a non-stop, over the top, action, buddy flick, with just the right touches of humor to make it unique. Starring Mark Dacascos and Kadeem Hardison – who work extremely well together, this 1997 film does not disappoint to kung fu fans with it’s limited wire work and slightly exaggerated fight sequences. And the mix of stunt work is superb.

Both Mark and Kadeem have paired for a couple of movies and worked together in the series, “Crow Stairway to Heaven,” where Dacascos played the doomed Eric Draven and Hardison played death.

Drive is the story of Toby Wong (Dacascos) who has been fitted with a bio-engine that enhances his abilities. Toby is attempting to get to LA from China to have the device removed by a rival corporation.

Along the way Toby encounters Malik (Hardison) who is recently divorced and unemployed. Malik, during a well staged battle in a local bar is now too hunted by the bounty hunters sent to retrieve Toby alive – Malik is expendable.

During their journey the two men grow to be friends and encounter a zany motel owner, played by Brittany Murphy. Toby needs to recharge the bio-engine implanted in his heart while Malik repairs his car. This precedes one of the best fight sequences you will find in a kung fu movie.

After escaping again the persistent bounty hunter, Malik and Toby finally make contact with representatives from the LA company willing to help. Only problem is the bounty hunter has tracked them, and he’s not alone. Toby is not the only one with a bio-engine in his chest. And he has the older model too.
