On some days a little extra cash will appear in your pocket, and why not use that little extra on your family.  New Orleans offers a variety of family activities that all ages can enjoy.  You can take a walk through the French Quarter, take a stroll through the Audubon Aquarium, graze with the animals through Audubon Zoo, or catch a flick on IMAX’s 100 plus feet screen.  Even better! You can spend a whole day and check out all with a bundle package.

From the Louisiana Film Commission

If you take a walk through the French Quarter, shop in the French Market where hundreds of merchants await and cater to you in an open market.  Once you are done shopping, take a quick break and grab a snack over at Café du Monde.  Café du Monde is self seating, and there usually is a line heading down the street.  The food is worth the wait.  They offer the greatest coffee and beignets New Orleans has to offer.  Finally when you are through, finish your tour through the streets of the French Quarter.  Check out some of the shops and museums.  Local artists await you on every street.

From the Audubon Institute

If the heat is not your thing, take a stroll through Audubon Aquarium where sharks and tortoises await for your child to take them on an adventure.  The aquarium is two stories tall and has a level with an exotic rainforest feel.  It is guaranteed to jump start your child’s imagination.

From the Audubon Institute

If fish are not your thing, head over to the zoo.  Let your child run wild with the white tigers and albino alligators.  Check out Audubon’s special exhibits such as the Red River Hogs, Sea Lions, the Swamp, the Primates, and much, much more.  The zoo offers play areas to let your little ones out of the stroller when they are tired of sitting, and it even offers a few lunch areas to stop and grab a bite.

But if animals and fish do not meet your needs, take your family to a different movie experience.  Seat yourself into the dome-like seating and feel yourself become a part of the movie.  They show everything from oceans to dinosaurs, so why not beat the heat.

New Orleans has so much to offer, and so much is still not mentioned.  Check out the links below to find prices and more activities to participate in, in New Orleans.
