Drew Barrymore to Direct the Third Twilight Flick ... Possibly

I initially ignored the speculation that Drew Barrymore is one of the directors in consideration for the third in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse. I mean, she's directed one film - the upcoming Whip It! starring Ellen Page - the success of which (or lack thereof) has yet to be seen, so how could anyone possibly think to consider her for such an intensely anticipated film? Well, it's true, kiddos. The actress confirmed it herself.
She said, "I'm one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great because I'm a director now. But, you know, they'll make their choice." Oy vey.
Don't get me wrong, I love Drew - she's an adorable, charming, talented actress - but to gamble a novice, regardless of how high-profile, on such a huge project just seems insane, not to mention indicative of the whacked-out priorities of the producers and the mediocrity of the franchise at large.
