East St. Louis shooting: Baby boy injured

St. Louis – June 17, 2009 a baby boy 6 months old was shot in his own home while sleeping. The house is located in the 700 block of Post Place, East St. Louis. Around 2 a.m. a dozen gunshots were fired into the house, one striking the 6 month old baby boy in his stomach.
Several other people live in the home and no one else reported being injured. The little boy was taken to Kenneth Hall hospital by local authorities and then later airlifted to an unidentified hospital in downtown St. Louis.
Reports are surfacing that the infant’s wounds were not life threatening and the bullet only grazed him.
With minimal leads and few suspects no one is in custody at this time. The East St. Louis Police Department is working diligently on this case.
