Apparently so, according to a thread picked up at MTV's Splash Page. It turns out that the late King of Pop was an avid comics fan and collector, and at one point nearly the owner of Marvel Comics.

As is to be expected of a superstar like Michael Jackson, his collection of comics memorabilia was impressive, with items including life-size statues of Superman, Batman and Spider-man, a full-out molded rubber Batman costume (reportedly fitted over a statue of Jackson's likeness) and an extensive collection of old and new comics.

In 2005, the Comics Journal reported that in the late 90s, Michael Jackson met with Stan Lee to discuss the possibility of a joint venture with Stan Lee Media to purchase Marvel Comics. Talk about a meeting of the minds!

It's also worth noting that in the mid-80s, Jackson teamed up with Disney to portray pulp sci-fi hero Captain EO, which was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and also adapted into comic book format by Eclipse comics.

And in a recent bit of news, Bluewater Productions has announced an upcoming Michael Jackson tribute comic, available now for pre-order.
