Kids and adults will get a close-up view of reptilian and amphibian visitors this Saturday, July 11, at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. To celebrate Reptile and Amphibian Appreciation Day, NHM will showcase specimens from its Herpetology Collection and introduce reptilian (and human) visitors from the California Herpetological Association and the California Turtle and Tortoise Society. Visitors will see American alligators and California rattlesnakes, Indian cobras, a python measuring 13 feet, and poison arrow frogs. The event takes place from noon to 4:45 p.m. at NHM.
As part of the Appreciation Day, Junior herpetologists (ages 3 to 5 years) can join the Critter Club at 10 a.m. for stories, games, and crafts. The Club activities are included in the admission price ($9 for adults, $6.50 for children). The kids and a participating adult can check in at the Dueling Dinosaurs inside NHM’s entrance. Plan to arrive early, as class sizes are limited. More information is available by calling 213-763-3230.
