Sustainable Works, a non-profit environmental education organization and Community Partners project will host their 2009 fundraiser tomorrow (Thursday) night from 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm in Santa Monica. Sustainable Works mission is to foster a sustainability culture in cities, colleges and businesses throughout Los Angeles.
To achieve this, Sustainable Works has been educating Los Angeles residents about environmentally responsible actions revolving around waste production, water, chemicals, energy consumption, transportation emissions, consumer habits and community development in Santa Monica for over six years.
Two of their most popular programs are the 6-week residential program and 9-week student program designed to assess the environmental impacts of individual lifestyle choices, educate about specific sustainability topics and develop recommendations and resources for action based on the individual.
Sustainable works business program provides consultation services to green up businesses via an initial assessment and environmentally friendly recommendations based on the assessment. Sustainable Works then provides the resources, implementation assistance, staff training and employee education to see sustainability become a part of a company's culture. An essential element of Sustainable Works program is the ability to offer clients quantifiable statistics measuring resource usage reduction after Sustainable Works program implementation.
Tomorrow night's fundraiser will be hosted by one of Dave Letterman's favorite comedians' Jake Johannson. Delicious organic food and drinks, an educational green room,a sustainable artists gallery, a silent auction and several speakers ensure that attendees will leave this fundraiser with their green sustainably on.
The Sustainable Works fundraiser will be held at 2525 Michigan Avenue, Building 1 in Santa Monica.
