For all of us that are into or trying to be into the green thing, this weekend January 23 - 25th ,the Go Green Expo opens at the LA Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles. The Go Green Expo is a green lifestyle trade show for both business and consumers.
However, before I give details about the expo (including a very cheap ticket price), I think its worth mentioning a significant fact about the convention center itself. The Los Angeles Convention Center is the first convention center in the United States of its size and age as well as the first City building in Los Angeles to earn the LEED Green Building Certification for existing buildings by the USGBC. That is quite an achievement in and of itself and makes it the perfect venue for the Go Green Expo.
For eco-conscious businesses and consumers, the Go Green Expo is an opportunity to learn how to create environmentally sustainable homes and businesses incorporating socially responsible practices to make your life, your business and your families healthy while respecting our planet. Friday's activities are specifically for business to business networking with an impressive agenda that includes keynote speaker Ed Begley Jr. as well as speakers and panels on Emerging Technologies and Innovations in Green Building with the following panel; Kevin Daum, CEO of The Awesome Experience, Fernando Castro,House Account Supervisor of Noritz America, Shinya Yamada of SHIKOKU International and Satoshi Okayama of DAIKIN. Panelists on Green Business Leadership and Entrepreneurs include Greg Wendt of Enright Premier Wealth Advisors,Tony Tracy, CEO of Perf Go Green,Scott Badencoch, CEO of CreativeCitizen.com, Ferris Kawar, VP of Greenopia.com, Barnet Roth of Green Drinks LA, Steve Glenn, CEO of LivingHomes,Tommy Rosen, CEO of Eco Gift Festival,Robert Craymer of RC Green and Lawrence Axil Comras, President of Green Home, Inc. The public is welcome to attend Ed Begley Jr.'s keynote speech at 3pm in South Hall J on the trade show floor.
Friday late afternoon premieres a screening of the Sundance award winning film "FUEL" followed by a panel discussion featuring the film's director, Josh Tickell along with Peter Fonda, Mariel Hemingway and Tony Tracy.
On both Saturday and Sunday, the Go Green Expo is open to the general public with nearly 300 green businesses exhibiting their products and services representing a wide array of green businesses from architecture and marine research to the Green Restaurant Association and Electric Bikes LA. With this many businesses represented, there is literally something of interest to everyone. Several panels will also be featured on Saturday and Sunday including one on Healthy Living featuring well known green living experts like Bryan Au, author of Raw in 10 Minutes,Julie Edelman, author of The Accidental Housewife, Kristina Rohr, Publisher of Natural Living Magazine,Valerie Mason-Robinson, CEO of Eden Organix,Apple Levy, Founder of TheGreenGirls.com, Shel Pink, Creator of SpaRitual,Anna Griffin, Publisher of Coco Eco Magazine and Dr. Pat, host of the Dr. Pat Radio Show. Other panels open to the public are Broadcasting the Green Message,Sustainable Investing, Charging into the Future with Electric Cars & Mass Transportation, Greening your Business, Green Building & Design and Energy & Conservation.
Saturday's keynote speaker is Mariel Hemingway speaking on her book, "Health Living from the Inside Out."
For film buffs,on Saturday afternoon a film showcase and panel produced by ELEVATE Films will screen the best works of Elevate. On Sunday morning, The Green Living Project presented by Rob Holmes, Eco-tourism and sustainability projects in Africa & beyond will screen.
Obviously, the Go Green Expo is not to be missed if you are interested in being in on the cutting edge of green business, technology and living. But overall, this is a significant opportunity for anyone curious about green business and living to get an amazing sampling of what's happening in this exploding market. As for me, I live for this stuff...so I'll definitely see you there!
