This is news David Lynch fans of Atlanta dream about in there sleep - one of his films to be viewed on the big screen at the nostalgic Plaza Theatre for one night only. Not just any film, his 1986 classic "Blue Velvet."
Playing Tuesday, June 23 at 9:30 p.m., the theater known to run every Friday at midnight a live "Rocky Horror Picture Show" will present this cult classic thanks to The Righteous Room and Pabst Blue Ribbon (no pun intended). This is not the only time Lynch's work has graced this theater's presence. Lynch's latest film to date, "Inland Empire," was shown for several weeks in 2007 as well as his director debut feature "Eraserhead" in 2008.
Known to movie buffs as one of Lynch's finest gems, "Blue Velvet" tells the story of Jeffrey (Kyle MacLachlan) returning home from college to a nearly perfect suburban town to find a human ear while walking in a field. Soon thereafter, he becomes involved with police, the sheriff's innocent daughter, Sandy (Laura Dern), a mysterious nightclub singer, Dorothy (Isabella Rossellini) and a threatening psychopath, Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).
For more info: This film is rated R and not appropriate for children under 17. As far as additional showtimes, none have been reported at this time. Please visit the Plaza Theatre's website at http://www.plazaatlanta.com/.
