On Tuesday, July 07, 2009, during the premiere of its new action/science fiction series “Warehouse 13” at 9PM ET/PT, the “Sci-Fi” Channel will change its identity to “Syfy” and add the slogan “Imagine Greater”

“Warehouse 13” centers around two United States Secret Service agents, Myka and Pete (Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock, respectively), who save the life of the U.S. President and as a reward for their efforts are immediately transferred to a top-secret government warehouse in South Dakota. The warehouse operation is overseen by a caretaker named Artie (Saul Rubinek) who is responsible for obtaining, cataloging and containing a variety of odd, arcane and mystical objects procured by the U.S. government. Myka and Pete are charged with assisting Artie in carrying out his responsibilities.

To go along with its new identity, slogan and “Warehouse 13”, “Syfy” will add the new series “SGU: Stargate Universe” starting with a 2-hour movie premiere in the fall of 2009, and introduce the new “Battlestar Galactica” spin-off “Caprica” in 2010. The “Caprica” prequel DVD and digital download went on sale on April 21, 2009.

The new season of “Ghost Hunters International” rolls out on July 8, 2009 at 9PM ET/PT. New episodes of the unique and entertaining show “Eureka” return on July 10, 2009 at 9PM ET/PT. The crew from The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) will be back to walk around in the dark with night vision equipment when the original “Ghost Hunters” returns in the fall.

These network adjustments are to coincide with innovations related to the “Syfy” website, as well as to the Scfy technology blog, “Dvice” and the Scfy video game blog, “Figit”. There will also be the introduction of a new mobile device website and iphone applications.

The existing “Sci-Fi” site has added fifteen new online games, including four Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games that do not require major software installation by the user.
