New Moon star Kellan Lutz can't wait for fans to see Eclipse, the third installment in the blockbuster Twilight saga.
“Eclipse is a masculine movie,” Kellan tells E! News. “I love it. All the stunts I was able to do by myself. It’s an action movie!”
Lutz, 24, who plays the hulking vampire Emmett Cullen in the Twilight franchise, aspires to be an action hero someday.
“I want to be Jason Bourne… and take over that franchise," says the athletic 6'1" Kellan. "I love doing stunts and shooting guns and doing fight scenes.”
He adds: “I have a great team and we’re really focused on becoming that new action hero."
Like his co-star Taylor Lautner, Lutz--a longtime fitness fanatic--had to step up his workouts and do fight training to prepare for the many action sequences in Eclipse.
“I’m putting on a lot of weight as fast as I can, going to the gym and doing fight training and a lot of stunt work,” says Kellan.
In addition to lifting weights, Lutz does lots of isometric exercises, such as push-ups and crunches, and swims as often as possible.
For now, Kellan is busy shooting Eclipse in Vancouver. “It’s going to be one of those movies where guys who aren’t fans of the Twilight series but like seeing a good kick-ass action movie are going to see it,” he says.
New Moon, which co-stars Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, hits theaters Nov. 20.
