Padma Lakshmi, host of the Bravo reality tv show Top Chef, has confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child.
Lakshmi, 39, has not identified the baby's father. She was most recently linked to billionaire Ted Forstmann, the 69-year-old CEO of sports and entertainment marketing giant, IMG. Lakshmi has been divorced from author Salman Rushdie, 62, since 2007.
In August, Padma was seen out and about Manhattan with Manu Nathan, 27 (below), who works in business & legal Affairs at IMG, but her rep claims he's just a cousin.
Padma has had trouble getting pregnant over the years because she has endometriosis, her rep told Us.
Endometriosis, a medical condition that causes the uterine lining to grow in other areas of the body, can cause irregular bleeding and infertility.
The gorgeous India-born Padma, a 5'9" former model, recently revealed that she gains weight during the filming of Top Chef.
"I do gain weight—about 12 to 15 pounds—in seven weeks of taping," she said. Over the course of three seasons, my wardrobist and I have learned that we need to have 'skinny' clothes and 'fat' clothes."
Lakshmi, who in 2007 was named one of People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People in the World, admits that she exercises "a lot" to keep herself in tip-top condition.
When not taping her show, the Manhattan-based cookbook author works out up to 2 hours a day boxing, lifting weights, doing cardio and roller-skating. Of course, that routine will have to change now that Lakshmi is expecting.
Padma recently inked a development deal with NBC and Universal Media Studios to develop and star in a half-hour sitcom.
