Your college roommate is only in town for one night, and you have to work early in the morning. Instead of going out to a club or a dive bar somewhere, take it easy and head out for a glass of wine and some yummy Italian.

Vito's By the Park in Hartford is a comfortable restaurant with a friendly waitstaff. Complete with a raw and a full service bar, the dining room is attractive but unpretentious. The patio is open during warmer weather so diners have a great view of the park across the street.

Vito's isn't open very late--only until 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If you don't have the energy for an all-nighter, have a glass or two of wine at this hot spot with a close friend or two and call it a night.
