Harley-Davidson's Custom Chopper

My brother just bought one of these factory made custom Choppers and I took it out for a spin. Climbing on the 2009 Softail Rocker C™ I noticed the seat was a comfortable height, my legs slightly bent with my feet flat on the ground. The curved back handle bars, internally wired, was a nice touch as well as making it easy to ride.

The extended front forks and the large 240 mm rear tire hugged by the chopped rear fender give this Harley its distinct “Custom Chopper” looks. Normally it takes me a little while to get accustomed to riding a new bike, the Rocker C™ and I became one as soon as my butt hit the seat.

From the minute I went into second gear, and just before, I knew that this bike rocks!
The rigid mounted 96 CI Twin Cam paired with the 6-speed Cruise Drive, blending perfectly with the Vance and Hines® Big Radius 2 into 2 exhaust pipes that poured out that distinct Harley-Davidson sound. Yee-Haaw! "How can I afford another Harley" went through my mind.

I was surprised at how agile this bike was, despite the 36° extended rake and the extra 5 inches in length, plus the wide rear tire, as I threaded my way through the early L.A. morning traffic on my way over to the coast.

Upon reaching highway 1, and after maneuvering through various traffic conditions, I found the road to be almost empty of traffic. I gave the throttle a slight twist and the low end torque felt good as I powered off the curved on ramp. The shifting was smooth and practically effortless as I reached the top of 5th gear and went into 6th. With the rpm drop in 6th, the Rocker just purred on up the coast highway. I had the ocean on my left, the wind in my hair, riding a totally cool custom Harley and thinking, it doesn’t get any better than this!

Note: The Vance and Hines® Big Radius 2 into 2 exhaust are not stock. My brother added these as well as the remap. Also, bike depicted by the illustration is not the bike I rode. Most of the illustrations I use in my articles are created by Ezcat.
